I helped get the girl who decked today to the helicopter and was wondering if anyone knows how she is doing. I hope she is ok.

Do you have details of what happened? Saw someone post over on the taco about this, but just that he saw the heli. Not to be an ambulance chaser, just interested in case it's something to watch out for.

I also was one of the climbers helping in the rescue yesterday. She was on "The Line", and fell above the first piece. The single piece pulled and she hit the deck (its a tricky placement with tricky movements). During the evacuation she was completely conscious and complaining about back pain and ankle pain. The paramedic at one point said he did not think she hit her head too bad.

The teamwork yesterday was outstanding. It was quite the challenge getting her through that awful vegetation to the helicopter pick-up spot. Its encouraging to know that climbers will stop what they are doing to really help each other out. I hope she gets well soon, she seemed like a very nice girl.

Hey guys...just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for helping us out on the rescue. It went perfectly thanks to everyone's coordination and willingness to help. I visited her last night and she is expected make a full recovery without any surgery.

I had to leave an orange mastercam, gold DMM offest nut, and several biners on the line to get down to her. Thought I'd see if anyone picked grabbed it. I will gladly pay for shipping and some beer.

Thanks again,
Rob

Were there two teams of two and you were above her or what? Why did you have to leave gear when she pulled the first piece? Just curious...

Hope your friend gets better soon Rob, and that you get your gear back. Shows that you have to be paying attention at all time, and shit can happen even on moderates.

Wow, great to hear that she is recovering fast and doesnt need surgery! Hope you get your gear back also, any word yet?

By the way, that helicopter pluck was incredible to watch! I bet that would be pretty scary being injured and getting pulled up 100' to a helicopter in the wind.

Thanks for the kind wishes Brett. No word on the gear yet, but apparently it rained yesterday so it might not have been picked up yet.

Leading the eponymous pitch.

Like Brett and Ian, I also participated in Liz's rescue last Sunday. Much to my surprise, I later found out that she is a good friend of a good friend of mine, so I've been able to receive updates about her condition. Latest word is that Liz is home, though she did suffer a broken ankle and two broken vertebrae. It seems like her spirits are high and that she's doing well, given the circumstances - I heard she even went to work for a few hours on Friday.

It's inspiring to see climbers come together in adverse situations. Here's to maintaining that solidarity and respect at all times. Climb safely.

Hey All! The young woman that fell is my daughter and I just want to thank all of you for your warm wishes and prayers. She is doing well, praise God. My eternal thanks for the climbers she was with, the nearby climbers that came to help, the Emergency Staff that came to rescue her, the pilots of the helicopters and the staff at the hospital. God bless you all! I know she is learning a lot through all this, which she can't wait to put to use and will again soon, fortunately (or unfortunately for me and my graying hair!!) Thanks again. The climbing community is everything she said it was! Be safe out there!
