| The Conn's put up a ridiculous number of routes in the Maryland/Virginia/West Virginia climbing areas before heading further west. It would have been great to have met him. I guess I'll have to let his climbs speak for him now. His obit I was a little shocked to see his climbing not mentioned at all. A different generation I suppose. |  FLAG |

| I remember hearing some of his great climbing stories locally when we were in WY Custer State Park/Tenpins/Sylvan Lake area.. don't remember the name/s but we did a few trad classics of his up there -great climbs Thank you Herb ~R.I.P~ & kindest regards to all his friends & family |  FLAG |

| Herb and Jan contributed more to climbing in the Black Hills than anyone has yet and probably ever will. I met them only once, on the trail into the Spires, 2 or 3 years ago. Jan told Cheryl they were up by Spire 9 having a morning picnic. They were already walking out at 9:00 am when we were walking in! When we later got back to the car, Herb had written "bad-ass" on the dusty rear window of C's car. Speak for yourself, Herb, you bad-ass. |  FLAG |
