Lizard Rock and the surrounding towers...

RAIN AND WET ROCK The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. MORE INFO >>>

Description

Lizard Rock is the 60 foot spire near the parking lot, and is also known as Entrance Rock. The standard route climbs the face nearest the parking lot, and another route exists just to its left. Good free climbing for the Fishers.

Getting There

It should be pretty obvious from the parking lot...

Begin on the southwest side (the parking lot side) and follow a 5.7 crack/face up about 25 feet to a flake. Place a #4 cam here if needed. Move up and a little right to gain the right end of the large, obvious flake splitting the tower just beneath the summit overhang. Use a long runner to sling a horn here, then proceed straight up on overhanging jugs to a 2 bolt/1 drilled pin anchor. Mantle (yeah...).The rock quality is good, and can be trusted for the most part....[more]   Browse More Classics in UT

Easy to get to, straightforward climbing, and FUN!

After climbing this you will discover the whole thing leans quite a bit. It leans away from you as you approach, so you may not notice this until you reach the top. Looks like next big rainstorm and the thing is history ... or it could last 1000 more years.
