Hello everyone. My wife and I are hoping to do some ice climbing and mountaineering this jan/ feb and are wanting to camp. Is there any campgrounds open in the winter or any quiet places to pitch a tent nearby?

Don't quote me but anytime I've gone into the mountains around Leavenworth in the winter I just set up camp where ever is convienient, assuming it's all on snow and off a trail.....I'm usually off any trails anyway. I just treat it like any other LNT backcountry trip.

The campgrounds in Icicle Creek canyon will all be open, however there will be no running water (but you're right on the river so water will be plentiful), and the bathrooms may be locked.

If you're car camping I believe its acceptable to sleep at the Stuart Lake Trailhead as long as you aren't pitching a tent.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
