Going with a friend to climb Shasta next week, if weather forecast improves. Gonna take avalanche gootch. Just wanted to get some insight on how unconsolidated the snow will be around this time. Snowshoe tails needed? Also want to get an idea of summit day itinerary. I want to summit and be back at helen lake no later than noon to avoid warm snow fall. Please advise this rook. Thanks!

Depends on how warm Bunny Flats is. You'll probably want snow shoes or skis up to camp and back. I've seen it done without but it is miserable post-holing out at the time of day you're planning.
This is a good time of year for Shasta. Keep an eye on wind trends, Shasta nukes in perfect weather.
