This place is AMAZING Suggest change

The best summer climbing in southern Greece is located near the top of the mountain range that splits the Peloponnese. Find cooler temps and plentiful shade in a low alpine setting. The rock is limestone of good to excellent quality. You'll find pockets, tufas, caves, and plenty of fun!
Wild camping is plentiful with varying 'amenities' depending on which spot you pick. thecrag.com/climbing/greece… has many of the routes. The Climb Greece guidebook also covers this area. Names and sometimes grades are written at the base of the climb.

Getting There Suggest change

2.5 - 3 hour drive from Athens primarily on the highway. Once you get to Sparta drive up the mountain pass road toward Kalamata. After 14km you'll see a big gravel parking area on the south side of the road. This is the parking for the first two sectors (Aloni and Petsanes), visible uphill from the parking. For Splithari sector, head a hundred meters west to take the first downhill road. It turns to gravel and bottoms out at the riverbed. Continue along the road and riverbed for some fifty meters to arrive at the crag, which rises directly opposite the riverbed. For Tourlitsa sector, there's a sign on the side of the road marking the trailhead.
