Eric Ruljancich on Lady of the Knight 5.10. This ...

Description

Hard to keep it in the grade unless you climb around some. If you try climbing shortest distance between two bolts you will find it a good deal harder. There is a good clipping hold up by the bolt with the run out just keep working the feet until you find it.

Location

Closer to the left edge of the Knight than the Bishop. Left facing flake crack system that ends at the top of a short left facing dihedral.

Protection

Bolts

The runout section: Geir went left and then up to get the draw in, risking a scary-looking pendulum. I found once the draw was in, I could clip by going straight up/slightly right following the crack. Taller people may be able to get the draw in from there too.

I disagree with the posted ratings on this site which suggest .10C for Cornickopia, and .10 for Lady of the Knight. This climb has gotta be at least 2 letters grades hard than Cornickopia right?.

Paul, 5.10 and .10c are pretty much the same rating. I would concur that Lady of the Knight is a bit harder than Cornickcopia. One letter grade or so.

I would look at the consensus ratings, Paul. But even that is not really a "democratic" weighted average. Just eyeballing the ratings, it's pretty obvious the rating given by the person who added the route gets more weight.

Lady of the Knight has 4 ratings 10+ or above which apparently carry the same or close to the same weight as the one 5.10 rating given by the person who added. So really, looking at the detail of the consensus is best.

Anyway, thinking back, the 10c I gave Cornickopia seems a little soft so I'll change it to b/c

I wonder how many 10d ratings this route would have to get before the consensus went to 10d? not a clue..

Yup, looking at the consensus rating details it looks like people generally agree with what I was thinking. It just gets confusing when you're out there using your phone and just go by the posted rating.

Updated posted rating to 5.10+ to mirror the consensus and guidebook rating. Also reduced the length from 90ft to 50ft.
