Has anyone tried this new ice pick by Krukonogi.com
"Special design and sharpening for ice routes."
They are made from armor steel so they'll be tough but how well do the penetrate the ice?
The photo below is for the Nomic but they also have one for BD tools.

I saw some very favorable comments about them online somewhere about a year ago. They're $100 apiece or so IIRC.

I saw a few competitors around the Bozeman ice festival last year who were using them. They look nicely made. The geometry is very aggressive and optimized for drytooling. Even the ice ones look like better rock picks. I am seriously considering getting a set to test after I've trashed my current pick stash.

Ive been using them for about a year for mix climbing on Nomics, they are amazing! the armored steel is indestructible and the craftsmanship is fantastic ! but they are too wide for ice, so the new ones for "ice" should be good, I have a set ordered for my Grivel Master Alloy's ! and for the price, they are about 50-60$ a pop including shipping, thats cheaper than some stock replacement blades. If the new Ice blades are half as good as I expected them to be, I will never again buy blades from the maine brands! Krukonogi all the way!

Was there any surprise duties you had to pay? Other than the usual GST/PST.

I used the BD version for the IWC in Bozeman they are not as aggressive as the PF1(A) or PF2(A) and were prone to "skip" when I locked-off on certain holds. I also noticed the tips rolled a bit, deforming when used on the newer model Top Point dry-tooling holds and in particular on those Top Point holds with the drilled steel insets, the PF1&2(A) are definitely better suited for dry-tooling on plastic.

Lastly the bolt holes are not positioned quite right for my Fusion 2s, they crushed the threads on the M14 head bolts when I mounted them for the comp a situation later rectified by some light reaming of the pick bolt-hole with a dremel stone.

I haven't actually climbed ice with them yet but they look most formidable...
