Darling of the RRGCC. This area, along with Muir Valley has become the focus of almost all recent development in the last five years. The climbing areas are all located within tributaries of Big Sinking Creek. There is tremendous untapped potential and lots of unreported development as well. The area is popular with locals for horseback riding and four wheeling as well.
Getting There
To get to Solar Collector follow hwy 11 past the community of Zachariah and look for Fixer Road about half a mile further on the right. Take Fixer Road down into the valley. THe road will turn to gravel, cross a bridge and over a hill. After crossing the hill look for a gravel road on the right immediately across from a large black tank that was once painted like a caterpillar. Follow this rough road to a parking area with a kiosk.
To get to the Bald Rock Fork crags (Motherlode, Sore Heel, Bob Marley, etc.) continue on hwy 11 to route 498, turn on 498 and follow it for a few minutes to Bald Rock Road on the right. Look for it immediately after a blind curve. Take this road down into the valley.
