Dangerous Cliffs

Description

This is the tributary of the Red River on the north side of Nada Tunnel. As far as sport climbing goes, this could be considered the true birthplace of RRG sport climbing. Left Flank and Military Wall are located here. Those two walls combined host a great number of classic RRG sport climbs of varying grades.

In recent years the crowding has eased a bit with development in other areas, but these walls are still very popular.

Getting There:

From Slade, KY (Miguel's): Highway 15 west, 1 mi. Take right onto hwy 77 driving past some seriously bad looking real estate. Continue on 77 through Nada Tunnel and down the other side and some crazy switchbacks. When the hill ends there will be a parking lot on your left, park then hike 100' back up the road, cross it and the brook at the little bridge, make your way up the trail, take a right for Military, left for Left Flank.
