I'm thinking about an extended stay in kalymnos in the winter but not sure about weather, partners and accessibility in winter(dec-jan). Has anyone done kalymnos solo period let alone in winter? Has anyone done Kalymnos in winter? I hear it can be wet but would love some more first hand accounts. Any info is helpful. Also if you are planning to be there dec or jan get in touch.

Hi Sam,
Depends what you call winter; I lived there for many many years.
Average winter temperatures about 10C. The Northerly winds can feel very cold but it is absolutely fantastic for outdoors activity.
It could rain for a number of days that time of the year. Rains are usually thunderstorms lasting a couple of hours. There is definetally a good amount of sunshine. Stay in the main town Pothia, where there is life around so you can find places to eat, drink and meet people.
Rent a bike for getting around isn't going to cost much.
Avoid accommodation for summer visitors as it may not be best suited for the winter temperatures.
