One note of caution . . . there are King Cobras about.  They act like rattlesnakes in that they typically are defensive, avoid confrontation . . . but just a bit more curious.  I saw two wild cobras around Hampi, one of which was about 10 feet long and slithered right up to my feet from a garbage pile adjacent to jungle in Hospet.  It flared up right in front of me, then turned and slithered back into the jungle.  Don't get bit.
