Sunset from campsite #25, on the western tip of Jo...

A very secluded island in the middle of Cranberry Lake. Extremely picturesque area with potential for developing more bouldering problems. Several NYDEC primitive campsites around the edges of the island, most include a fire pit, flat spot for a tent, an outhouse or pit toilet, and some have tables and benches.

Getting There

Note: Boat Access Only. Drive to Cranberry Lake, NY. From the center of town head west on NY 3, and turn left on Columbia Rd. at the sign for the Public Boat Launch. There is free overnight parking and a public boat ramp. Once on the water, head south along the western edge of the lake, and head for Joe Indian Island, which is the largest island, on the southern end of the lake. If using GPS set your waypoint at -74.83722567558288 44.168106976083905. Campsite #25 is located on a small peninsula on the western tip of the island.
