Belaying at Joyama
I am moving to Japan at the end of August, and I will be there for 10 months, until June 2015, and I'm hoping to get plenty of climbing in while I'm there. I will be living in Yokohama and going to school there. I should have some weekends free for going to the crag, in addition to four week-long breaks when I hope to go farther afield.

I am looking for anything from local beta to a regular climbing partner. I will have my rope and gear with me. I have been looking at the Big Rock climbing gyms, and it looks like the spots on the Izu Peninsula are good nearby outdoor areas for route climbing. Sounds like I'll need to make it over to Ogawayama during one of my longer breaks.

If anybody has any other tips, is in the area and would like to get together to climb once I'm in town, or knows anybody who might be able to help plug me into the scene, I would greatly appreciate a reply or a PM. Any information on Japanese-language resources (guide books, MP-like sites, etc.) would also be great.

Thanks a lot.
