Description

This wall is one of the most secluded sections of the Endless wall. There are not a whole bunch of high quality routes here, but its worth the hike to climb the Mechanical Bull (13a). Most routes are 5.11 to 5.12 with an equal distribution of trad and sport lines.

Getting There

Take the ladders to the cirque and then hike for ten minutes along the base of the cliff (climbers left). Total approach time from the Cirque ladders is 10 minutes. You'll know you're close when you pass by the obvious 10' "Stalagtite" that is imbedded in the ground.

Churning In the Butter 5.11b 6c 23 VIII- 23 E3 5c  WV : The New River Gorge : ... : Jacob's Ladder Area
This is a great route! Start by hand traversing in from the left to reach the first bolt on great holds. Climb straight up, heading right to reach the roof. The crux is the final slab moves before the roof. Pull the roof, climb a short finger crack and then angle right to the shuts. Clipping the shuts is a bit awkward if you try to clip from a stance below them. 60M rope gets you down with plenty to spare, 50M rope would be pushing it. (Cater guide recommends 55M+ rope)...[more]   Browse More Classics in WV
