iPhone app does not download all pictures

On iPhone app, I go to Quincy Quarries (MA) and look at the existing pictures. It shows 10. Going to the same place online shows 18.

So 8 pics are missing. I ran the latest update with no difference. The missing pictures are old (6+ months).

Do you have the latest version of the app? Older versions limited the photos. The newest version does not.

I uninstalled the whole app and re-installed it. Quincy Quarries (MA) still only shows 10 pics.

I dove into the code and have the correct answer this time...

For any area or route:

  • always show the first 10 photos.
  • always show photos with "topo data"
  • always show photos new photos (one year)
  • always show "beta" photos
  • always show photos with >= 2 stars

So what you will NOT see: photos more than a year old with no or poor star ratings.

One photo (the one I was really missing) was added last June and was tagged as Beta, is not showing up. Only the first ten, doesn't matter what the tags?

I just added stars to that last photo (which again is less than a year and was marked as beta). Will see if something changes when the next mobile update happens.

Question: is it possible to have it download all photos? While it shows 48 photos available for the Echo Canyon area of Enchanted Rock, only 1 photo shows. It would be nice to not have to go and star 47+ photos (photos are missing from other areas as well). Either way thanks for providing this for us climbers.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
