Description

This area is new for Mountain Project, and is just getting started. Feel free to contribute!

Afternoon shade in a canyon best accessed at low tide. Good quality limestone, vertical and steep.

Getting There

Walk towards the Muay Thai/1-2-3 areas, and before you get there, you'll find a concrete path going right around the resort next to the cliff face. Walk down this path, dodging souvenir hawkers, and you'll come to a concrete patio with a beach in front of it. Pass the Princess Cave, go to the end of the beach, and enter a canyon.

There isn't really a way to get into the Defile during high tide without getting wet. In medium tide you can traverse over into the cave system, and in low tide just walk right over. It seemed odd to me that none of the guidebooks mentioned this. Something to keep in mind. You could also probably just pay a long tail 40 baht (a bit over a buck) to just float you over.
