Description

Beautiful, eerie wind sculpted limestone. This is a pleasant picnic spot for families as well as great wandering area. It's easy to lose yourself in the mystical qualities of this stone city. There is plenty of climbing to be had here in all grades, so it may be hard to feel crowded here.
The Limestone has great cracks and pockets as well as pure friction for some strange climbing.

Getting There

From Christchurch take highway 73 west towards Springfield and Arthur's Pass.

When coming from this direction, the access path to Spittle hill, Quantum field, et all is at a gate just before the Castle Hill Ranch. Park along the road and then take the 10 minute hike back to Spittle Hill, Quantum Field, Dark Castle and Wuthering Heights.

Flock Hill, Dry Valley and Prebble Hill are further down highway 73.
