A climber carved into a boulder near the Grand Wal...

Description

A world-class bouldering area at the base of the Chief. The bouldering stretches from the pay campground all the way to the apron, with standout boulder problems and some great sport lines. A great place to be in the summer, because it's always shady and cool. You need the cool temps to stick the myriad slopers on the heelhooking lip traverses scattered throughout the area. Too many classics to name, but some standouts include Bojo Jones (v3), Easy in an Easy Chair (v4), the Viper (v5), Babaharidas (v7) and Wormworld Cave (v9).

Getting There

Park in either the campground lot or the main lot for the Chief pullout. Follow the hordes of pad people into the forest. You'll have to get a guide to navigate anything here, but there is a good free one on Dr. Topo.com.
