Inland Empire Rock Climbing
Historic part of downtown Riverside
The Inland Empire of western Riverside and San Bernardino Counties is less developed than the coastal part of the Greater Los Angeles area to its west. It has a transitional climate and geography that is dryer than the coast plain, but less harsh than the true desert across San Gorgonio Pass to the east.
Mountain ranges form its physical boundaries: the Santa Ana Mountains
to the west, San Bernardino Mountains
on the north, and San Jacinto Mountains
to the south.
Climbing areas here are often on foothills of the mountains surrounding it, and include the Big Rock Area
, Mount Rubidoux
, and the Riverside Quarry
