My deepest sympathy and love goes out to the family and friends of sweet Preston... an immense loss for this world.

I just found out as I'm out of the country. My condolences to his family. He was a great guy and certainly the best boss I've ever had. Never had a problem letting me disappear for up to two months at a time for film work and always getting me back on a job when i got home. I'm simply floored by his passing.

Cheryl, I never met Preston, but am saddened by his loss. Having been through this recently it brings back a lot of memories. I wish you and your family the best and hope that as difficult as it may be Presons life may be celebrated. I found it very hard to get to that point myself and still deal with it daily. I can only imagine there are a lot of unanswerable questions regarding climbing, risk, chance, and the "why" did this have to happen. I wish I had some of the answers myself. I do know that for me the pain was appalling and felt impossible...but that there was always hope somewhere - even though at times I had to be reminded it. The pain has dulled over time, still always there, but not present all the time. I've found ways to live again. I can only imagine Preston is thinking the same thing right now...wanting you all to live again, happy and without pain.

Barbara, Family, and Friends of Preston, I worked on a couple of solar projects with Preston in the past seven months. I admired his leadership, his attention to detail, his sense of humor and most of all his kind heart. He was so excited to learn about and install solar, a positive way to give back to our environment and humanity. I was truly shocked when I heard the terrible news and send my prayers and heartfelt support to all who knew this dear man. He had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. He will be missed. A memorial fund has been set up in Preston's memory for his children. If you want to make any donations, it is through Wells Fargo Bank. The obituary will be posted next week. we had a beautiful outdoor memorial service yesterday at Chatauqua, it was only for family, but it was beautiful and even Preston would have loved it. The Celebration of his life on Aug 3rd at Purple park will be open to the public, Bring picnic blankets and chairs, there will be a tent with food and an open mike for people to share stories or memories of Preston. If you have any pictures, arrange them somehow onto a board or into a book, we will have as many out as we can. If you have any questions you can email me, Love to all who have and are continuing to support our family at this tragic time. Cheryl Brennan and kids

Cheryl & family;

I am sorry for your loss. I did not have the privilege of knowing Preston, but it is easy to see that the world has lost a wonderful person.

Dear friends and family of Preston,

I am writing as a close friend and former business partner of Preston. Like many of you, I have searched my heart to try and find meaning to these recent events and to try and find some way to support both Preston's legacy and his family in a meaningful way. I came up with an idea that I would like to share with you.

Preston and I ran a design/build business for years and after going our separate ways, we continued to stay in touch and support one another on both a personal and business relationship. In the last couple of years, as I got more into "green" design and renewable energy, Preston and I had many discussions on the ways we could use our design and construction knowledge in a more meaningful and responsible way. When I introduced Preston to the good people of Solar Power Inc., Preston was immediately energized and excited about the opportunity to work with them and within the renewable energy industry. It seemed like a perfect fit - Preston was able to use his diverse construction background in a way that he felt was most socially conscienscious. Through many conversations in the recent months, I could feel that Preston was passionate and proud about his new career. And so, this is my thought:

I am in the final stages of setting up diversified renewable energy investment portfolios through Schwab for each of Preston and Cheryl's children, Willy, Noah, and Talia. With Cheryl's blessing, Preston's sister Barbara will serve as the custodian of the accounts until the children reach the age of 21. My thought is that the kids can participate in this exciting and developing field as shareholders, hopefully watch their investments grow along with the industry, all the time knowing that this was the path that Dad had chosen.

I equally want to note that Cheryl has established a separate trust for the children through Wells Fargo and will be posting additional information on that in the near future.

I will be following up with the specifics on how to contribute to this fund early next week as the fund gets established. If anyone has any questions regarding this or would like to make certain they they are included, please feel free to e-mail me at mark@yanodesigns.com and/or seek me out at Purple Park this Sunday.

My best to all.

To Cheryl and family. The recent events in Eldorado canyon are hard and have rattled me. I, however, cannot understand what you have been through. I don't know what else to say except sorry. I hope that time can heal your wounds even though it is impossible to replace someone as special as Preston. My thoughts are with you and I hope doing as well as you can. My heart goes out to you. Take care of yourselves.

Dear compassionate climbers and friends and family of the late Preston Brennan,

Per my earlier entry of August 1, 2008, I have set up a renewable energy investment portfolio for each of Preston and Cheryl's surviving children, Willy, Noah, and Talia. With Cheryl's blessing, the three accounts have been established with Charles Schwab, Inc. with Preston's sister, Barbara, acting as custodian of the accounts until each child reaches the age of 21. Along with being a great guy and a loving father, Preston was both passionate and proud to work within the renewable energy field.

Please join me in contributing to the Preston Brennan Memorial Clean Energy Fund, a diversified renewable energy investment account established to strictly support his children and to serve as a reminder of the path that their father had taken. My hope is that this fund will serve as a small reminder of the good intentions of their father and help energize their own lives as they search for meaningful roles in the world.

All contributions are meaningful.

Check contributions may be sent to:

Charles Schwab & Co.
P.O. Box 52114
Phoenix, AZ 85072-2114

It is important to reference the account #9700-5578 in the check Memo line or on an accompanying letter.

The above account is a parent custodial account in Barbara Brennans name (Prestons sister). Periodically, we will divide the proceeds in equal increments for each of Prestons children and build their investment portfolio. If any of you have a specific request as to how you would like to see your contribution invested, please e-mail me your request and I will make certain that the investment is completed accordingly. It is our intention to build a diversified renewable energy investment portfolio for each of the children in hope that it is a balanced effort. In turn, if anyone is interested in transferring existing investment shares they may own within the renewable energy field, please consider doing so. If you are interested in transferring shares or have any questions regarding the Schwab investment accounts, please feel free to contact Lisa Stokes at 1-877-298-0113 or via e-mail at lisa.stokes@schwab.com.

And lastly, please feel free to contact me with any additional thoughts or questions.

Your time and consideration towards this effort is greatly appreciated.

My best,

Additional follow-up to my announcement on the Preston Brennan Memorial Clean Energy Fund. Big thanks to all those who have contributed to the fund for Preston's children and reminder to those who have not to please consider supporting this effort.

I have been notified that Schwab returned some contributions that have been sent. There may have been some confusion with the fund name - PB Memorial Clean Energy Fund and I am told that there would less confusion if checks were made directly out to Schwab & Co. with the account number listed on the Memo line.

Thank you again for joining me in this tribute to Preston's memory.
