| On Sunday June 17, 2007 at approximately 1505 hours, a call came in for a fallen climber in the Gregory Canyon area. A 20-year-old male had been out with some friends hiking and scrambling in the Gregory Canyon trailhead. The victim had scrambled up a rocky area and when he reached the top of the rock area a rock fell off the side of the cliff and landed on him. The falling rock caused him to fall approximately 12 feet and then he slid down the rock area another 20 feet. He was climbing without, safety equipment. He did not have any climbing ropes or helmet on. He suffered a leg injury and some abrasions on his body.
Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Fire Department, City of Boulder Parks and Open Space Rangers, Pridemark Paramedics and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded. All groups worked together and assisted in the rescue. The victim was evacuated out of the area and transported to Boulder Memorial Hospital by Pridemark Paramedics.
