| Was climbing at animal world this afternoon (5pm) when someone scrambling up high, across the creek from the boulderado, fell about 40 ft. onto a brushy slope, then bounced into talus, with trundling rocks coming down with her. We got over there as quick as we could, flagging a car down (for 911 call) on the way. Contusions on her head, broken wrist, possible broken leg, and complaining of back pain, but conscious and alert. We comforted her and kept her warm until rescue arrived. 35-40 min till first responders. I spend alot of time out there climbing, and dread this type of scenario. I hope she's gonna be ok. I felt ill-equipped and unprepared to do more than offer moral comfort and my jacket to keep her warm. We should all spend a little time better preparing ourselves to help out in the case of a serious injury in our "playground". Which is why i'm posting this- I want to give props to the RMRG for their quick and efficient rescue. Seeing their professionalism up close, was comforting. We are lucky to have such an effective rescue group at our disposal. Thanks RMRG. Ned Fire and the paramedics were on scene also, and deserve mention as well. Thanks. To Emily from SD- Prayers for a full & quick recovery | |
