| I've recently been having some reoccuring pain at the base of my ring finger on my left hand (non-dominant hand). I've also had a small bump that goes perpendicular to my finger, near the base of the finger. When I climb I've been having some pain around the affected area, which seems to reside after some icing or rest for a few days. I'm wondering if it might be dupuytren's or some other type of cyst. From what I've heard there isn't much pain associated with dupuytren's. Has anyone had any experience with this? | |

| Another possibility is a tendon nodule, but you would probably have locking or triggering sensations when you extend the finger. | |

| Matt, I've got the exact same thing on my right middle finger. It gets irritated and swells when most of the weight is on that portion of the finger. Fortunately, gym climbing is what irritates it the most because only in the gym are there holds juggy enough to put most of the weight on the lower part of my finger. Whatever it may be that I have, it's always there but doesn't get irritated when pocket-pulling, crimping, or pinching so I haven't gotten a professional opinion. | |

| I too have the exact thing you are describing (both Matt and Lauren). It's been like that for almost 3 months now even though I took time off from climbing for about 6 weeks. Pretty bothersome that it isn't healing and I'm not sure what to do at this point. Be sure to post up if you seek professional help and get any answers, thanks! | |
