| I've had a primary care physician in Denver that I have been pleased with for years, but he is abroad on sabbatical and is not really convenient to Boulder.
Does anyone have a boulder-area primary-care type physician that they particularly like, and somewhat fits the bill (below)?
Please feel free to PM me, if you prefer.
Cheers! Avery
- Boulder Area - Relatively seasoned in their field - General approach: Non-surgical, non-medication recommendations first, yet active/aggressive treatment, physical therapy, etc. - Prefer they are a climber, cyclist, etc -- some sort of active individual that can relate to those in an active lifestyle - Physician who is personable and shows interest in the patient - Type of physician who is open to writing Rx's for med kits for extended high-altitude trips, etc - Type of physician who you do not have to book an appointment with 2 months in advance - Good office staff (I find this can actually make a difference)

| Dr. Lawrence Granston. CU Medical Center on Broadway near Baseline. He qualifies for and does the Hawaiian Ironman every year, Boston Marathon and all that. A young dude too. Very Good! | |

| I have some pretty considerable health problems and some of them can be pretty profound at times. Without going too far into detail, I went from doctor to doctor for a while before I settled in with Dr Bradley Fanestil at Avista Hospital, Louisville. He was able to successfully treat some problems I have that some specialists had failed to treat with any success, let alone diagnose in some cases.
Although he is not a superstar athlete (as far as I know), he does seem to "get it" when it comes to treating athletes. I.E., he was not surprised when I was climbing with a broken ankle and advised me on risks and mitigation instead of issuing the standard orders of "don't do that." He has given me some scripts upon my request for the "just in case" to control my condition for travel overseas or climbing trips. Naturally, these are fairly inoculous drugs and ones I have taken before...
In any case, I have been very satisfied with his office and the care I get there. If you are on the South side of Boulder, you may want to consider him as an option.

I've been seeing Rick Myers for many years and have been very pleased with the quality of his work and his concern for his patients. He is very experienced and very meticulous. He came into the office on his day off to handle a dental emergency I had a few months ago.
His office is in the Steelyards off 30th St. in Boulder (2500 30th Street, Suite 204), and his office number is 303-443-1131. His website is http://www.drmyersdds.com.
The Colorado Daily voted his practice "Boulder's best Dental office in 2006."

| Hey Rich, I've got trick for tooth pain.
If the affected tooth has a metal filling in it, crumple up a chunk of aluminum foil and bite down on it as hard as you can. The effect is almost magical.

| Thanks guys for the recommendations and NON-recommendations!!
I'll look into those guys and Mike, I don't have metal fillings but, that sounds like a bad joke!! Kinda like touching your tongue to a 9V battery!!! THanks Rich S.

| Thanks Tony and Hank -- I appreciate it. I talked to both offices, and it sounds like Dr. Fanestil doesn't have any openings until the 9th and Dr. Granston is out until the 4th. Given I'm having some jaw issues because of a bike wreck earlier this week -- I'm going to head down to Denver to meet with one of my Dr's associates; however, I will keep these Drs in mind for the next round.
Thanks! Avery | |

| Bump.
Any further recommendations, per what I listed above? These guys seem to be hard to get in with, or are out of town.
