I've met some surprisingly great people here on MP. People bash it but also Meetup.com, met some great climbers through there. When you're out climbing you will meet new people and make contacts with the ones you like.

Just be extremely vigilante when you're starting out to assess the abilities and intentions of those you're learning from. Just because someone is acting instructional doesn't mean that they know what they're doing, and just because they're teaching you doesn't mean they're doing it for your benefit.

If you're somewhere nearish to Hanover, you should try to get on the Dartmouth Mountaineering Club email list—people often are looking for partners at Rumney via that email list.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
