I start training this next weekend with the C.B.R.A. in Greeley, CO. My public debut will be Friday evening, August 5th at the Boulder County Fair. I can't freakin' wait!

Have your wife video it for us MPers! I'm a closet PBR fan; I'm amazed by the power of the bulls, and the riders. Good luck!

BITD when I had more machismo than brains, I gave bull riding a try.
First bull I tried riding was a bad @$$ SOB named Mortician who
just about killed me by doing a tap dance on my chest.
Next bull was a couple weeks later. Would of rode him out but about 6 sec in, he come down hard and snapped his leg. They had to put him down. I still feel real bad about that.
Right after that I got shipped out overseas courtesy of Uncle Sam.
Looking back, being overseas where I had no chance of getting on any more bulls undoubtedly save my life.
My mom used to tell me,"Everyone gotta do something stupid in their life."
Best of luck to you Hank!

Good luck, Hank. Be safe. If you don't already have a good shoulder doc, you might want to start looking.

Make sure you have a low insurance deductable, and, there isn't an exclusion for your activity.

I've never met a long time bull rider who could walk in a straight line...

Don't do it Hank! That shit's crazy! You did see that movie 8 seconds right? Stick to the 5.12 death routes, way safer.

I know you won't listen to me, best of luck bro. Wear one of those helmet cam thingy's and post up the vid. We'd love to see your ride up close!

Edit: August 5th, 2011 Boulder County Fair - got it. Me & Kevin will be the Hecklers up in the grandstand. Just so ya know.

They make it look so easy....

Disclaimer: I'd like totally grab them rocky mountain oysters if I got bucked off, and stepped on like that.

Nice Hank! Put a lot of rosin on that glove and hang on! As a climber, wrapping the rope back between your fingers is not the best idea. That being said, it does help on the ride. Watch your face on the double bounce. . .

As some one said, I think it was Hemingway:" there's only three real sports, auto racing, mountain climbing and bull riding!" or sum-thing like that?

Despicable activity! I'm rooting for the bull. Are you going to wear lycra?

No, Weren't any camels around either.
This was way before even Desert Storm and the whole Gulf War mess.
I shipped out to Europe during the Cold War era.

This thread got me to thinking about bygone days so I found my old album and these photos of Mortician relieving me of one of my nine lives.

Hank- This is the kind of fun that awaits you!
BTW- What made you decide to take up bull riding?
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
