Description

In 2005 or 06, we accessed this wall by crossing the Snake River in a canoe launched from the boat ramp at Massacre Rocks State Park. This is a U shaped amphitheater that we thought would have some shade somewhere. It was still a very hot venture in late spring. The sand was almost too hot for sandals. Even the cows we saw (and there were many) moved quickly across the sandy stretches. Climb in the spring, fall and in the shade. The bolts are old, and the ISU guide is not much help in locating specific climbs. Pick a line and give it your best shot.

Getting There

Take the drive around, which I have never done, or paddle across the Snake from the park, heading east, for about 20-30 minutes. The canyon is obvious on the left, just below the main wall and still across from the park proper. Watch out for motor boats. We pulled the canoe up on to the bank with some difficulty, and walked up a cow path to the climbing walls.
