Description

A popular spot in the South Creek area, it has a concentration of mostly 5.10 routes on the west face of Transformer Rock. The east side of Bumblie Rock makes up the other side of this corridor. The Bumblie Rock side currently has just 2 routes while the Transformer Rock side has around 6.

Getting There

Transformer Corridor is just downstream (east) of Bumblie Rock and can be reached by a trail on either side of Flaming Rock. The most direct trail to the area is to start at the Flaming Rock Trailhead and stay on the west side of Flaming Rock, cross the creek, veer right, and go downstream just past Bumblie Rock, then take a left.

The route...

Vibrator 5.11a  ID : City of Rocks : Transformer Corridor
This simulating route starts with crux face moves off the ground, which is typical for this wall. There is a low bolt to protect the crux, but a .75 camalot is nice to have ready for the upper crack. Follow the now moderate finger crack to the well protected patina face climbing above. A .3 camalot in an undercling will protect the runout between bolts. A fun outing......[more]   Browse More Classics in ID

This area has a great selection of mixed routes in the 5.10 range. Only a light rack up to a #1 camalot is needed. The starts of the routes are normally the crux.
