What is your opinion on Omega screws? I am a new ice climber who can get these new for the price of used BD ones. Are they any good?

Thanks,
Evan

They are some good - but not as good as the BD's. You'll find out how much the difference is worth to you in dollars the first time you are 15ft. above one of them trying to put in another one. See if you can try somebody else's of either brand before you lay out the cash.

Omega's work fine. The "reclining knob" on the Black Diamond Express screw is a feature that allows the screw to go in faster than the Omega but I find that so long as I keep the Omegas sharp that they still go in fast enough.

The Omega screws are very similar to 4-5 year old BD screws in how they place. If you are getting the ones with the attached knob, they work pretty well. Maybe get 1-2 and try them out before you by a whole slew of them. They are great anchors for top ropes and easy ice where you aren't sketched and want something now! The best screws out there based on how they are machined are the BD and Grivel- in my opinion. I have tried quite a few other brands and always go back to those two.

Mexico roadside rocks

They are just fine and the grinder knob is fast.

I have fallen on one and it kept me off the ground. And so did my belayer.

I have some I am selling that have been used maybe twice. A friend sold them to me for money to start sky diving and I have to many. I have two 11s, three 17s, and two 22s. Asking 25 for each.

Omega's are fine I still have two on my rack that I use often.

Still you can't beat a Grivel,Petzl or Bd express for speed and ease
of use although the handle on the Grivels can be a PITA sometimes.
