I want to climb a trade wall in Zion. I know it's super hot. Any recommendations?

Calling all desert rats: which routes, if any, get the most shade this time of year. Thanks. |
|
prodigal sun just opened up...how hard are you willing to Aid? have a pin rack? that can open up a few of the more shady routes. |
|
I've done Prodigal...in November (Thanksgiving day)...probably a better choice this time of year because it was quite cold. Something about that difficulty, clean aid. I'm willing to sweat but not die. Thanks man. |

If you play the shade right moonlight is doable. We did it with highs well over 100 degrees |
|
What about desert shield? It got about 20 min of sun over thanksgiving when we did it... |

disco inferno, if the thin crack is not full of bees is an enjoyable event. desert sheild is an awesome wall. space shot is hot as balls right now. moonlight aggred is doable if you plan around sun and are okay with spending a couple days out. if you want a partner for this jaunt out let me know. |

Hey Matt it's been a while since I've seen you! Not really sure what wouldn't be terribly hot right now but I live in Cedar City so I can go check some stuff out and ask some of the rangers what's best. Let me know if you come down, I'm always down to climb and you can crash at my place if you want to. |
|
Here is an interesting idea. Also have you looked into climbing walls up canyon of the tunnel crag? You'd have the place to yourself. |

Did moonlight and suffered like a sonbitch in the sun... and Im from Phoenix! Doable ,I would think ,if you hit it in the pm and can knock it out in a day! ymmv |

Thanks for all the advice and keep it coming. Luke, thanks for the invite. I called Garret W. but I suspect he's in the field. |
