Description strenuous 4.5 mile hike with approximately 3300 feet in elevation gain to reach Arizona's highest point. Back country permits are required in the winter
Location Route begins at the north end of the Arizona Snowbowl parking lot. From Flagstaff, take US 180 for 7 miles to FR 516 (Snowbowl Rd.) Drive 7.4 miles to Arizona Snowbowl parking lot.
Protection class 3/4 hike, so none needed

| Going up from inside the mountains at the inner basin would make for a great mountaineering route. Don't know if it's been done before. When you get to the saddle on the hike, look down and you'll see what i mean. |

| There is really nothing class 3/4 about Humphreys Peak on the Snowbowl side of the mountain.
As far as mountaineering is concerned, I know that ski descents are frequently done on Humphreys North Cirque. There is a rock band with a narrow couloir towards the bottom that would most likely be pretty cruxy. Possibly some mixed climbing if you don't take the couloir. The east rib that comes up from the Inner Basin to just above the saddle of Humphreys and Agassiz might provide a decent mixed climbing adventure. I also heard from some of the guys at Vertical Relief that some of the dikes towards the more Northeast face have some bolted lines on them. |
