The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description
This problem starts a few feet over from the left arete on nasty crimps and polished feet, gaining the right slanting seam and following it until you can mantle over the top. Getting established on the face from the ground is a battle in itself. Taller people will find this easier than short folks.
