The sheath of my rope has worn out. how do i place duck tape around it so that the rope goes through the biners smoothly.

Is it better to use heat shrink tape? I don´t think this one is that durable.

We've always used Duct Tape to mend those annoying core shots. Just apply liberally over the affected area and pull nice and tight at the ends. Good luck.

Santian,

I hope you're joking. Everyone knows you use rope tape, not duct tape. (it's not "duck" tape)

Use CLIMBING TAPE, duck tape will attract wild geese who will break you're arms mid climb, you will be stranded and covered in geese poo.
Climbing tape is specially made for climbing (hence the name) accept no substitute.

I thought duck tape was the standard if it's a dry or double dry rope

Because you use dry ropes in winter and geese fly south for the winter :)

I tried to use gorilla tape but then a zookeeper shot my rope.

These duct tape suggestions above are incredibly dangerous and not at all funny. Splice the sheath by weaving dental floss, only safe way.

The tape and dental floss suggestions are all wrong and will get you killed. The only real way, short of having the rope resheathed, is to heat up a butter knife with a torch till it's almost red hot then pass this over the bad sections, as if you were icing a cake.

I have tried the Chinese finger puzzles but every time I take them out of the package I get my fingers stuck and I have to call someone to cut it through the middle. If your fingers are making contact inside of the device you can get nicked by the scissors. So due to problems with this dangerous device, I must recommend against your solution.

Taping a worn spot on your is dangerous! You should never do this because you could easily confuse the taped worn spot with the tape THAT MARKS THE MIDDLE OF YOUR ROPE. Then when your raping, the ends will be uneven and you WILL DIE.

There is no other way to discern this tape from other tape on your rope! this has happened to several of my partners! (I always rap second.... im not a lead rappeller)

I am now wondering if anyone has had any success with staples?
