| Anyone been up since the last snow about a week to week and a half ago? I'm pretty sure you can get to that campground on the other side of the flats, but don't know about the 3NO7, the Forest Service road that goes to the south parking area. | FLAG |

| Should be good. Bear and summit are closing next weekend. It's been so hot up there. But there is a storm coming in. So 4/21 weekend should be totally clear. But I don't know if the gates are open. | FLAG |

| I called the BB Discovery Center, 909-866-3437. They usually have beta on the road. Last time I called, they said it was open at least to the HV campground. Polique Canyon has been improved the last few years-I think it is better than Van Duysen. | FLAG |

| The road is clear 4x4 is recommend this time of year, but we have a storm coming in tonight so that can all change. If anyone needs a partner I live in running springs and have 4x4 truck and am available to climb Sun.-Tue. and Thr. afternoons. | FLAG |

| Drove up there on March 23, Polique Canyon to the South Parking Area. Quite a bit of snow which has more than likely gone now (although more on its way this weekend) - big pools of water but totally doable with a high clearance 4x4.

| How is it looking up at Holcomb now? I know there was a big snow dump last weekend, but temps have been quite warm since. Has most of the snow melted out? | FLAG |
By Rob Selter From running springs Ca Apr 19, 2012
| The snow is melting fast but I am not sure if the puddles have turned into ponds. | FLAG |

| Do you think by Saturday a Subaru Forester with AWD could make it through? | FLAG |
By bmdhacks Apr 19, 2012
| We climbed Holcomb valley two weeks ago with a 2wd compact SUV. The southern lot was fine, northern lot was a bit sketchy to get to. It was a bit cold, 45 degrees and windy when we went, but had a great time and didn't see any people there at all. Small patches of snow, but not much else. | FLAG |

| Any word on today's (or this week's) road conditions? I'm trying to decide if my Subaru Forester will make it in tomorrow from Polique Canyon. | FLAG |

| I ended up out at new jack today, but I drove through Fawn Skin on my way there and all the snow there is gone. I think you would be fine getting in there with your subaru just avoid the ponds if you can (those things can get really deep). | FLAG |

| Bump. Considering heading up on Wednesday of this week in a 2WD VW Golf. I've only been up via Van Dusen Rd. Anyone have any up to date info on conditions? | FLAG |
By Rob M May 1, 2012
| If it hasn't rained since I was up there, on the 22, then you should be ok. I think Polique Canyon is better than Van Duysen, IMO. There were some pudlles, but they tended to be sandy bottomed, not mud. there were a number of passenger cars up there when i went. I f you have any doubt get out and test puddles for depth and firmness with a stick. I think you shouldn't have any issues. | FLAG |

| Thanks for the response, Rob. We made the trip in my truck (2WD). We took Polique Canyon Road and it was in pretty good shape. The gate at the top of Van Dusen is open though. There weren't any large puddles and it felt like mild summer conditions up there. We had the place to ourselves and had a great day. Thanks again. | FLAG |
