49 Palms hillside crags.

Description

There are 5 climbs on the hillside above and to the right of the parking lot and the trail to 49 Palms Oasis.

Getting There

From the parking lot, it's best to hike back along the road for a minute or two, and then head up the hillside to anything that looks big enough to have a roped rock climb on it....these are the climbs.

Featured Route For Hillside Crags
Rim Marsinkus is on the furthest right formation in this photo.

Rim Marsinkus 5.9+  CA : Joshua Tree National Park : ... : Hillside Crags
This climb is in the group of boulders and rocks which one would call the summit boulders, high on the hillside south of the parking lot. Once again, to approach, hike back on the paved road form a minute or two, then hike way up the talus to the summit boulders. This climb in on the right side of the group of rocks, and has 2 bolts to a obvious thin finger crack. No anchors on top, but a large boulder to easily sling for the anchor. Short but excellent climbing. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
