Description

Higher Wire is not a great crag. The right side does hold some very nice stone, but this is not true of the whole crag. Four bolted routes were put in two years ago, and some potential exists for additional routes. The crag gets reasonable sun, being South/East facing and high on the hill. Ratings are a bit soft yet and may differ from reality by a letter grade or so.

Getting There

Hike left around the High Wire crag and up the hill (~5 minutes) to the obvious alcove by the large fir tree.

Noto Bene: this trail must be negotiated with care. Any rocks kicked off from the trail run the risk of landing on climbers at the base of the 5th of July. Please, come up here with great care not to dislodge any of the loose rocks lying around.

Start behind the large fir tree. Excellent stone with some very inobvious moves leads to a pumpy finish in a roof system just below the anchor. This is probably the best line up here....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
