Just curious... do you ever stick your tool through the silo? Isn't that bad for the silo? Probably the dumbest question ever asked...

This ain't no modern aluminum silo here,,,this is from a farm near 100 years old and is solid concrete with thick steel bands around it every 30 inches or so. The steel helps catch some ice formation, and adds ridges to the ice, some that are helpful steps when ice is thin. Old hoses and boards add more structure for the ice to freeze and take shape upon. Each re-freeze this winter has had a bit of familiar ice, but usually new forms and shapes for our continued climbs. Compare some of the older pics from last season, or even this Dec and Jan. Look for the differences if you can see them.

Everyone:

Looks like we are going to have a last minute climb session this coming Sat. early afternoon(if it's not raining) and Sunday late AM and early afternoon. Looks like Sunday's weather will be nice so far. Let us know if you can make it!

That's October 13 and 14th. The fee is $10/person. Ice tools will be available to rent for just $5/pair. Helmets $3. Or bring your own gear.

Ok, the next Official Dry Tooling Halloween Bash will be on Oct. 28- Sunday- 3 PM- Dark or later.... Post up if you can make it.
