| Howdy folks/admin's,
For some reason the post read/not-read indicators don't seem to work correctly for me. I can read every new post in a section and it won't change the yellow indicator to white. Same thing for posts within a topic. I can even log out and log back in and it won't change.
I should mention that when I log back in the next day that the indicators seem to update themselves.
What's the deal?
If it helps, I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.11 with Safari 3.1.1.
Thanks,
Allen | FLAG |

This happens to me and drives me nuts. It always makes me think there are new posts in the topic I just read.
Firefox on both Linux and Windows displays this behavior.... | FLAG |

I am clearly logged in, I just made a post so I know I read the topic...
Maybe I will try deleting the board cookies - won't hurt I suppose.

Wow, you sure have a lot of pages open in Firefox. | FLAG |

| Actually, the displayed behavior is correct. The yellow indicators aren't necessarily "unread posts", but are instead "new posts since your last visit". So in a particular session, they will remain yellow. If you come back in 10-15 minutes, they'll be white. | FLAG |

| This still bothers me. The displayed behavior is counter-intuitive. I understand this is probably extra columns in the database and additional code, but other forum software behaves in this manner, including the software that provided the images (are they open-source?) that you are using for this forum....
Edit: I have been waiting for the forum indicators to change, but it's been over an hour.

| Ah, the post indicator images seem to change when somebody posts. Again, not very intuitive if the forum you are interested in is not very busy. | FLAG |

Totally, that thing is a cliffhanger. (Groan) | FLAG |

| Thought I would bump this again, instead of having to re-code the indicators, how about an addition common to forum software called "Mark topics read"? | FLAG |
