Description Suggest change

This is a limestone sport climbing crag with a handful of trad climbs with grades ranging from 5.8 to 5.13 and loads of potential for development. This is a canyon that provides both sun and shade at any given time of the day, depending on which side of the canyon you choose to climb on.

This location has on site camping, although space in the canyon is limited. It is better to camp at the mouth of the canyon than at the base of the climbs. If you must camp in the canyon set up your tents as far back from the wall as possible.

Please pack out all of your trash!!

Getting There Suggest change

From the capitol city of Yerevan drive south on the M-2. After passing Tigranashen, watch for the intersection with the H-10(Approximately 6.8 KM). Approximately 350 meters past this intersection take the farmland access road on the south of the M-2. Follow this access road for approximately 700 meters until you see a faint dirt road leading downhill. Park at the top if you vehicle doesn't have 4WD or risk getting stuck! The entrance to Hells Canyon can be seen to the south. The entrance is marked by a small religious building in the hillside above the canyon.

History

Suggest change
The first wave of development that happened in this canyon was in 2006, when Russian climber Alexey Trubachev came and bolted 6 sport climbs here. After that only a few more lines were bolted until in 2011, when Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, Jason Stevens, Jared Nelson, (and a few others) came and bolted 17 new sport climbs and 1 traditional climb. Since then little development has been done.
