It is time to replace my original arcteryx x350 harness from years back. I haven't paid much attention to harnesses in recent years as I was quite happy with mind. Was curious to hear people's opinions or suggestions for ice climbing harness for this upcoming winter season. I'm familiar with the Arcteryx and Black Diamond harnesses, but are there other offerings from petzl, CAMP, mammut, etc that match up well?

Adjustable legs, pack-ability/weight and ice clipper slots are all important.

Thanks for the help.

Misty Mountain.... I'll never climb in anything else, best harness I've over owned. Made in USA too.

Check them out and don't be afraid to email/call them with questions/concerns.

Check out the Wild Country Summit. Though the Misty Mountain Cadillac is the shiz from what I have been hearing, plus, I believe they can modify it for you, adding more gear loops and such, if you call.

A lot of people are going to tell you Misty Mountain is the way to go. I bought a MM cirque as my first harness and after doing my first hanging belay am thinking of just getting the cadillac and keeping the cirque for the gym. The extra width and padding of the caddy's waist belt should be much more comfortable. I went Misty but I went budget. Should have got the caddy to start with. I've also bought other MM product, everything is very well made.

I have a Petzl Corax. I like the location of the ice clippers slots and the comfort.

I would like to demo or borrow the Cadillac. Looking at the pictures on MMs website the ice clippers slots look close together and further back than the Corax. It would be nice to know how much more comfortable the Cadillac is than the Corax and if the ice clipper slots would work for me before making a purchase.

Thanks for the idea, they hadn't even entered my mind. For those with the cadallic, how is the packability of it? size of a nalgene?

It looks like the cadallic is the only harness with ice clipper slots. I sent them an email asking more questions.

The Wild country summit harness also looks really nice. Have you used it Andrew?

Not yet, on its way to me now. I can let you know how it is after I get it and try it out this weekend. Snagged it for a hell of a deal.

That'd be great. Thanks.

Also, for those interested, I heard back from Misty Mountain. They are able to add ice clipper slots if desired. They suggested the Sonic for a 4 season harness.

I have the sonic and love it. I have no need for ice clips because I hate the cold but I know they will add them.

Going to be pulling the trigger here soon. Andrew, any feedback on that Wild Country harness? Otherwise, leaning towards misty mountain...

More like two Nalgene's. My Misty is the bulkiest harness I've ever owned. (Also the most comfortable...)

Hey, so ive been using the summit harness for about a month now and it is awesome. Done mulipitch, sport and gym duty and its the nicest harness i've had. IMO just as nice as the Misty.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
