A quiet, shaded and well-featured yet overgrown area. The routes here are all pretty moderate, with one UIAA 8- (Felsakrobat). It doesn't really matter when you come here, you'll probably have the whole place to yourself. Also, for those of you with children, this area is pretty safe for them to run around in. It's in a nice forest (the climbs stay shady throughout the day and are facing north-east) that is very hilly or anything. However, the freeway is about 500m away, so you can hear some traffic.
From Nürnberg, take the A6 east towards Amberg. Take the Lauterhofen (and Schwend) exit and head right. Take the next right (in Schwenderöd) towards Frechetsfeld and drive under the Autobahn. 700m after doing so is a road on your left to Alfeld. Take this road and park on the left after 300m.

Overall a pretty decent route, and if you started at the left, the first to feature clean rock (partly).Climb up the slick rock to the first bolt, then trend right through easy rock to the 2nd bolt, then up the slab to the third bolt directly above your head. Negotiate the overhang making use of the crack and stemming opportunities to get to the anchor....[more] Browse More Classics in International
