Description
This huge flake set into the ground lies at the northwest side of the massive Beaver Boulder on the north side of Cap Rock. You'll often find a shrine to Gram Parsons right below the right end of the namesake flake.
Getting There
From the northwest end of the parking lot (near the Parking Lot Crank boulder problem at the base of Cap Rock's south face) head north along the west side of Cap Rock until the massive Beaver Boulder comes into view. Continue along to the northwest corner of the Beaver Boulder where you'll find this jagged flake/boulder.
The Classics
Mountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Gram Parsons Memorial Boulder:
You'll find this large flake of rock on the northwest side of Cap Rock, visible from the road. Named for the memorial at the base to Gram Parsons, a former musician in The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, as well as some solo work. Traverse the slightly overhung, jagged flake for roughly 25' and then drop off - or do some laps. A good warm-up for the harder problems nearby or enjoyable on it's own. ...[more]Browse More Classics in CA

Sadly, the memorial was removed (I assume by the Park Service) this summer. The rock was sandblasted and all the trinkets collected. While technically it could have been considered grafitti and trash, in my mind it was there long enough to become a piece of historical interest. It appears that there has been some attempt to re-establish it recently; time will tell what the powers that be see fit to do.
