Taking a fall at the crux

Description

Crux is near the top. It's a fun warm-up for the other various routes here. Climbs from the left side of the arete to the left and then up through a more vertical area.

Protection

7 bolts, open shuts

Anyone know what the climb immediately left of this is? It is between this route and the arete.

The description of this wonderful climb could certainly use an upgrade, as the crux of Gorgeous is not near the top, but pulling through the bulge at 2/3 height and involves pocket pulling over a steep bulge, not just a more vertical area. In fact, Louie Anderson describes the bulge at mid-height. As John Long was responsible for the FA, maybe he could be prevailed upon to apply his legendary literary skills to write a suitably detailed description of the route as more than just a warm up for the other routes at Mt. Gorgeous.

According to Louie Anderson's 2003 Santa Monica Guide, the route left of "Gorgeous" is "Cig-arÍte" (5.11b). "Cig-arÍte" begins left of the arÍte and moves right of the arÍte near the 4th bolt.

Ben is absolutely correct. BETA ALERT: The crux definitely revolves around pulling over the bulge about 60% of the way up, and making a clip while the right hand hangs on an ok gaston crimp. Great route for those who are looking to enter into the 5.10 ratings! -- it was my first 5.10.
