Good Climbing Spots

My family and I are planning a climbing near Kansas City Missouri and are wondering what the good locations for climbing are. I have talked with some climbers up here in Nebraska and they say that some of the climbing areas are dangerous. If they are dangerous can some you let me know in what ways they are dangerous? Please let us know where some good routes are for both beginners and experienced climbers.
