Looking downhill at Goldfinger Rock, JTNP.

This, the first rock you encounter on the approach, is located on the right side of the gully and distinguished by a clean left-facing dihedral and a large flat topped boulder lying below the lower portion of the rock.

There are roughly a half dozen routes here ranging from 5.6 to 5.10a with an equal mix of sport and trad climbs.

Getting There

Located on the right side of the approach gully a little way down and right from GoldenEye Spire. Plan on about a 35 minute approach from the car.

View to a Thrill 5.7 5a 15 V+ 13 MVS 4b  CA : Joshua Tree National Park : ... : Goldfinger Rock
Located on the right side of the formation and starting from the right (downhill) side of a huge fallen block which forms a sloping slab.Step off the slab and onto the featured arete, working your way back and forth slightly to find the easiest line. At the top the angle kicks back a little and some delicate holds demand some care as you make the last moves to the anchor. Great rock and positioning on this one....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
