Splitter Jams on the Israel/Palestine Security Wall.

Cool all! Thanks for sharing adventures wet, dry, hot, cold, familial, solo, and in between.

For our outing, my friend bailed and the weather was too iffy to commit to several pitches. So my 12-yr old, 80 lb belayer and I hit Tigger and Wind Ridge on Wind Tower.

R Klass, that was me pulling onto the ledge just after you passed the overhang. Nice job team Klass, especially with a new baby at home!

MLindfors, that would be fun to hook up climber kids. It might be tricky with you living south and me north. If I can ask, why don't you take up climbing while you're getting your son into it?

And Lee, as for the aid burlfest (on July 3rd)...I've been meaning to do some solo aiding at Golden Cliffs for a while. It's been years since I stood in aiders, and you caught the awkward reconnection. But it's great fun and highly recommended! You can tackle the thinnest, mankiest seems and hook moves, while clipping modern bolts every 5 or 6 feet to keep it safe. I didn't use the bolts for progress, but they sure emboldened me to try nasty placements.

I gotta do that again!

PS: Awesome bike report, Mono. You'd make the rest of us feel bad if you weren't so smart and nice. Oh, well, that part kind of sickens me, too. :)

Kayaked through Black Canyon on the Colorado River. Was a really great trip except that sometimes it felt like a four-lane highway with all the powerboats.

Cool!! I'm trying to figure out what type of Kayak to buy right now. As soon as I get one, I'm hitting Black Canyon, and the Hot Springs. I hope to find a single kayak that's mainly for sea use, and stuff like Black Canyon. I don't plan on doing crazy whitewater stuff.

I love the checking out the Hoover Dam bypass Bridge; I took this pick last year (7/15/08) off the rental boat we had when in the BC.

WooHoo, we survived another Independence Day!

Happy, and adventurous times, and travels with all, and your families for many years to come!

GiGi, you would probably love exploring the upper reaches of Lake Mead, near the Grand Wash Cliffs. Its where the Grand Canyon turns into the Lake but has incredible scenery. Mostly a winter thing for hiking temps, but the wilderness out there is second to none. I can see spending weeks and weeks out there.

Thanks for the info.! Grand Wash Cliffs looks incredibly beautiful, and just my type of terrain. ; )It would be fun to kayak to a really cool, lonely camp spot for a few days. I'll check out some guidebooks. Tenesmus, do you know enough about kayaks to narrow it down to some brand names/websites I should look at. Also, I plan on looking for a used one first, but is that not a good idea due to possible fractures not visible to the naked eye? I really love ocean kayaking, but due to the type of waters/terrain in my locality, and the desire to hone in on my kayaking maneuvering/skills before hitting the bigger stuff, I'll probably be exploring mostly on the Colorado River; this upcoming season, anyway. : )

Thanks again for the recommendation!

You can love your rope but you can't "LOVE" your rope

Hey Gigi,

Is it just me or does that bridge appear to be a little incomplete? I think Hooper could get across but I don't think The Bandit could.

I wish I knew something about kayaks so I could be of use to you.

But I have climbed 4 of the past 5 days, that must count for something. And the block party we had on the 4th was a blast. I think every neighborhood should have one of these.

Hey, Lee,
I'm glad you enjoyed your 4th, and got out climbing! The HDB bridge is getting there; I've been kind of obsessed, for quite some time, with the ongoing work, and progress of the bridge. Every now, and then, in my spare time, I get a sudden urge to split, and head off to Boulder City, by myself, in the late evenings on my day off; I have a ritual of stopping off at Milo's Cellar for dessert, and coffee to chill out at their outdoor/ sidewalk seating tables, I think about my friend Mike McGlynn who passed away (He used to love to hang out there after mountain biking at Bootleg Canyon in BC) Damn, I miss him, his laugh, and his laughing at my stories about work; he would almost be rolling on the floor; only he appreciated my horror stories on the long Red Rock approaches, and when he'd call me at 2AM when he couldn't sleep. I then cruise through scenic downtown BC, and end up at Hoover Dam. I love to walk around there at night, thinking of the history, and admiring the art deco beauty, and the incredibly engineered bridge work in progress. I feel so happy, and at peace when I am there. You should check it out some time!

G, I would love to check it out sometime. It sounds like excellent therapy. And a very nice tribute to your friend Mike.

My wife and i were just talking about that yesterday watching her climb. We take her allot to the zero-approach areas and she's showing such a big interest but the toddler days are just gone. It's unreal how fast it's all going. It's silly the things you miss like the adorable little fat wrinkle on the inside of their legs and how amazed they were the first time they played with Jello.

I understand now why all our retired neighbors love when we bring her over. They miss their own children/grandchildren so much.

She's going to be our rope gun for when I get too old to lead the scary stuff (which could be next week or sooner).

Hey, is it true that if you don't remember it, it doesn't count/didn't happen?

Took off a bit after 5 on Saturday for the New York mountains. Set up camp at dusk and dropped into a cave. No fireworks but it's ok, I've seem them before anyway. On Sunday we went out for a long hike and found a cave that is super top secret to the caving community.
I'll have a tr up tonight hopefully, look in the other sports forum in the thread 'goin down'.

Hope everyone stayed out of trouble this weekend.

Our team headed out to Vegas to bowl in the USBC Open Championships - I had never been to Vegas before so it was quite interesting. The lady and I were thinking about taking our gear and trying to get to Red Rocks one of the mornings, but we were busy and it was super hot so we were glad we left everything at home. We'll go back sometime other than summer. haha!
