Does anyone know why cloudveil has moved away form the climbing side of clothing(outerwear specific)? used to make the ice floe bibs and and they where cherry. seems the company is moving more towards ski specific.

that's the beauty of the climbing industry. when you find something that you really like, and it is well thought-out, and basically perfect....

they immediately discontinue it. :(

Windy!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they were bought out by Spyder.

So that's makes sense....

Getting ready for the first ice climb of the 07/08 season.

I was kind of disappointed that they had discontinued the ice flow gloves.

Cloud-fail. I like their stuff, but they stopped making all the pieces that were unique and set them apart from other companies.

Alex Lowe designed the first one in the early 80's, Cloudveil sold the first commonly used one.

yeah, discontinuing the ice floe glove is puzzling. IMHO, it was the only product they made that was worth the change. Everything else they made, I thought various other companies did better and usually cheaper. If you are looking for a glove that replaces the Ice Floe, check these out:

The BD glove is a little pricey, but it is really nice for manipulating screws and tools. Also, the liner is merino wool and is removable, which is really nice.

Cloudveil pants are major nut huggers.

(That's all I have to say)

I am lucky enough to still have two pairs of Ice Flows that are in reasonable shape.
Talking about gloves. I just got a pair of OR Alpine Alibi gloves. I have used them once so far and I like them, BUT. They're a lot thicker than the Ice Flows, but much like the Ice Flows, their durability has already come in to question. One of the knuckle guards started pealing off within minutes of their first use. I super-glued it back on. If that doesn't fix it at least OR is good about backing their product.
