Description This follows a line of well-placed bolts through some fun holds to a blocky finish and nice anchors. More interesting and rewarding climbing than its neighbors, Gates offers some fun movement on good holds. The finish offers a couple different options. The more difficult of the two (in case you can't feel around for the easy way) is probably 5.8.
Location This is left of Lunch Bucket Crack.
Protection 5 bolts, 2 bolt anchor w/ chains. A bit runout between the last bolt and the anchors. Bring a #2 Camalot to protect the final moves if you're so inclined.

| This is a fun route, more challenging and more fun for experienced climbers that the lunchbucket crack. I lead climbed it, and there was some runout between bolts near the top, but I was able to do it while feeling safe. Maybe not a good climb for people just starting to lead climb though. While on the rock I was always able to find some sort of hold, even if I just had to look for a little bit, making it almost like a scavenger hunt! Good clean rock the whole way. |
