I live in Washington. Personally, I dont care if people smoke up or not.

I am interested to see how this plays out; I like the idea of controlling it better, but I also see it as a potential to just be an additional drug like Alcohol that cops are going to have to be checking drivers for, and more accidents caused by it...

I think overall why it was supported so definitively goes more toward the economics and violent crime; to marginalize the cartels. Buff Johnson

Not sure what the driving limit is, or even if there is a reliable field test.

I'm really excited about the trend toward social progress we saw with this and a number of same sex marriage ballot initiates in other states.

According to CNN the state criminal laws for minor possession will go away as soon as the ballot is certified, which could take a month or two. The first commercial dispensaries are supposed to open in January 2014.

Whether you smoke or not, weeds prohibition continues to be one of the most ridiulous and hypocritical laws in existance.

I'm glad to see that finally people are getting that idea.

A majority of the people I work with started their using "career" with pot, just saying... Most moved on to other stuff but many are still trying to overcome their addiction to the hippie lettuce. Lynn S

Thank you for being leaders, Colorado voters...hopefully you will set an example for all the states to follow to pull their heads out of their self-righteous right winged asses and open their eyes! Micahisaac: True right-wing conservatism is sadly a very rare thing in this day and age...I applaud you

Now most "Republicans" care about pointless things like who people have sex with and what they do in their own homes

a shame

This is the most fiscally responsible choice the people of Colorado could have made in regards to this plant

I have to agree with this. Supporters of this amendment followed no party line.

@Lynn - Couldn't the same be said of alcohol?

Lynn, I'd wager your people started their "career" with alcohol.

And even if your gateway proposition is accurate (and I'd disagree that it is), legalization is a way to curtail that. When you can go to the corner store and get a J, you're not hanging around some dealer's grungy apt with a bunch of heads who are selling and doing other drugs.

I don't drink, but I fully support legal MJ.

Having worked with addicts and alcoholics for over 7 years I can only give you my experiences. A majority of my clients, most of whom are under 25, started with pot and many of those also using alcohol.

In my work experience, hearing the clients stories, for them pot was a "gateway" to other substances.

My intent is not to preach, I'm just sharing my experience working with people that are struggling with addiction and pot has been a launching point for them. I feel like now in Colorado we have made this even more accessible.

I also don't think that the cartel/violent crime reduction rate will prove valid. The cartels are not going anywhere and there are just bad people out there who will continue to do bad stuff.

Enough of this, I'm going to Rifle, one last sunny fall day!
